Pet of the Week Meet Kenai! Kenai is a male, 3 year old, white and black Pit bull Mix. He weighs 68 pounds! Kenai arrived at our facility as an owner surrender on October 19th due to them not being able to have him at their new house. He is house-trained and likes an indoor/ outdoor environment. He is crate and leash trained according to the previous owner. Kenai is on a grain free diet ONLY due to allergies. He is overweight and will need a family with an active lifestyle to help him shed some weight and a strict diet plan! Kenai does have some separation anxiety and ddfl.com is a helpful tool to access training tips on working with a dog with separation anxiety. He has moderate vocalization and some training history! He is said to be easygoing, friendly and playful towards young kids. He did live with another dog but he does have dominant behavior and does not do well with male dogs or any small animals, but loves the ladies! We are requiring a mandatory "meet and greet" for any dog that will be in his potential forever home. He is said to enjoy car rides, running, toys, fetch, tug, walk and water. He was described as lap loving and playful! **He is UTD ON VACCINATIONS, MICROCHIPPED, NEUTERED and ready to go home TODAY!**     .
We like to see our dogs adopted into safe homes that are a good fit for the family, the dog and with any other dogs or cats that may be in the home. We do meet and greets here at the shelter to make sure that all the dogs get along. Our adoption specialists are here to help facilitate this process. To better help us serve you, we ask that our visitors fill out a pre- adoption questionnaire. You can click on the following link to download one or fill out one here at the shelter when considering to adopt a new dog. Pre-Adoption link Disclaimer: We do not adopt animals out of state to adopters that do not physically come to the shelter to meet the animal.  Animals may have mandatory adoption requirements based on their history.  We do not ship animals.  We do have the right to refuse an adoption.
