animal in our care.

Pet of the Week Meet a beautiful, five-year-old, bicolor, velvet hippo named Kylie. Also known as "Short Stop," "Beef Cakes," "Snot Face," and "Stubs." Built like a brick house. Snores (endearingly) like a freight train. Loves to sleep, plays on your schedule. Knows plush toys are friends, not food. Loves scratches. Knows in her heart that one day she will catch her tail. Enjoys strolls on the Greenbelt and dips in the river. Dives off docks with the beauty and grace of a rock. Fully house trained. Crate trained. Sit-and-down for treats trained. (Insufficient balance to "shake.") Waddles beautifully on a leash. Personality type: dominant female. Gets along well with her foster brother, but true love takes time. She needs a home without young children. She prefers adults and may do well with teens. Rated "best foster dog yet" and "hilarious" by begrudging (but loving) foster father. Kylee is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and spayed.     .
We like to see our dogs adopted into safe homes that are a good fit for the family, the dog and with any other dogs or cats that may be in the home. We do meet and greets here at the shelter to make sure that all the dogs get along. Our adoption specialists are here to help facilitate this process. To better help us serve you, we ask that our visitors fill out a pre-adoption questionnaire. You can click on the following link to download one or fill out one here at the shelter when considering to adopt a new dog. Pre-Adoption link
