Animal Control receives several calls every day from citizens regarding stray pets that have been found roaming their neighborhoods. If you find a pet, there are several things you can do to help reunite him/her with the owner. If you have found a stray animal  If you have found a stray dog or cat and wish to retain the pet in your home, and provide care while actively seeking the owner, you may do so.  You must hang on to the animal for a minimum of 30 days and actively seek the owner.  You are encouraged to fill out a found report where you can also upload a picture and it will be added to our Found Pets in the Community I Frame below for viewing. You can make a new lost report after the 30 day period. In some cases, found pet reports are created and sent to Facebook, Craigslist or sent to our Lost Pets in the Community​pages​. Be sure to review all pages often to see if you find a match.​ Facebook and Craigslist links will take you to the pets that have been reported as  lost or found in the community. Be sure to review all pages often to see if you can find a match.​ Click the animal's picture to learn when it was reported lost.
Due Diligence Disclaimer First and foremost, we advocate that all pet owners who have a lost pet use due diligence towards those ends of finding your pet. West Valley Humane Society is not responsible of finding your pet.  The information contained herein is meant to be a resource. It is not exhaustive, nor does it indicate an endorsement or recommendation from West Valley Humane Society that we are in any manner responsible for finding your pet. We have made available this lost and found system to assist you in your search for your lost pet. However, please use your own due diligence in researching these sources and making the best choice for your pet(s). If you have lost your pet, you can fill out a Lost Animal Report online with a photo and submit it to WVHS. Stray animals are held at West Valley Humane Society for five business days, so we recommend, and advocate, that you look for your pet every two to four days. Filling out a Lost Animal Report does not mean you should stop coming to the shelter to look for your pet. Stray animals come into the shelter on a daily basis, therefore we also highly advocate that you also continue to monitor the lost and found page of our website on a daily basis. Community Found Animals
· Microchipping is one of the best ways of reuniting a pet with its' owner. We ​suggest that you bring the found pet to a local veterinarian, or the shelter, to be scanned for a microchip.  If you are unable to transport the animal to a veterinarian- Nampa residents can call Nampa Animal Control at 208.465.2257 and Caldwell residents can call Caldwell Animal Control at 208.454.7531 to have an officer come to your home to scan the animal.   If you are unable to retain the lost pet in your home, then you may bring the lost pet to the animal shelter located at 5801 Gray Lane- Caldwell Idaho   If the pet has not been reunited with its' owner after 30 days, you may continue holding/keep the pet, re-home the pet, ​contact the West Valley Humane Society or other area rescue organizations who may assist with permanent placement; or bring the pet to West Valley Humane Society.
