Since 2011, West Valley Humane Society (WVHS) has served as the cornerstone of animal care and control in our community—providing essential services such as stray intake, lost pet reunification, adoptions, and emergency care for animals in need. Their efforts not only improve the lives of animals but also benefit our entire community through public safety, responsible pet ownership education, and access to compassionate services.

Over the past year, WVHS has undergone a transformational period—rebuilding leadership, implementing stronger financial oversight, and launching critical infrastructure improvements to restore stability and sustainability. The organization has reduced operating costs by 36%, engaged new partnerships, increased transparency, and realigned operations to better meet both contract obligations and community expectations.

Despite a growing population and increasing demands, WVHS has continued to stretch limited funding with remarkable efficiency. Their ability to operate on a lean budget—while still offering 24/7 support for animal control officers and residents—underscores their value to the County.

Without this partnership, the burden of care and control would fall back on the County at significantly higher cost. WVHS is not only cost-effective but deeply embedded in the fabric of our community through its partnerships, volunteers, and outreach.
