Note: If you are under the age of 18 years old a parent or legal guardian must sign.
Volunteer Guidelines

You must be 18 years or older to Volunteer at West Valley Humane Society without a Parent/Guardian waiver;minimum 16 years old unattended with Parent/Guardian waiver; minimum 8 years old with Parent/Guardianwaiver and fully present Parent/Guardian at all times.

Volunteers are responsible for following the volunteer tier system. If you are caught handling animals or tasksabove your tier system without prior approval by the volunteer coordinator you may be asked to leave thevolunteer program.

If you are caught goofing off or using inappropriate language, you will be asked to leave.

If you are found to be harassing WVHS staff, vendors, customers, or clients, you will be terminated and no longerallowed to do community service at WVHS.

If you are dressed inappropriately you will be asked to go home and change.a. The following are not approved attire: Tank tops, shorts, open-toed shoes and/or flip flops, hats, sweatpants, leggings, gang related clothing, any clothing that shows undergarments.

Absolutely no drugs or alcohol are allowed on WVHS property. If you are suspected of being under the influenceof any intoxicating substance, you will be dismissed and not be allowed back.

You must sign in and out each time you arrive and/or leave the shelter.

You are required to report any injuries to a manager at the time of the injury. If you sustained an injury outside ofyour volunteer time at WVHS, please let a manager know and we will determine if you will need to be cleared byyour doctor before continuing at WVHS.

The use of cell phones is strictly prohibited outside of approved break areas.

If you are asked a question by a customer or fellow volunteer, please refer them to the front desk staff.

West Valley Humane Society will not be responsible for any personal items left behind, stolen or broken. It isrecommended that personal items not be brought into the shelter.

As a volunteer you are expected to treat all animals of any kind in or outside of the shelter with respect. You willnot harm, cause harm, or intentionally allow harm to come to any of the animals you interact with.By signing this document you are agreeing to the terms and conditions listed above and agree to adhere to them.
Volunteer Release of Liability and Waiver
This Release and Waiver of Liability is executed by the undersigned on the date indicated below. By signing, the undersigned releases West Valley Humane Society, a nonprofit corporation organized and existing under the laws of the State of Idaho, along with its directors, officers, employees, and agents, from any and all liability. The undersigned wishes to provide volunteer services to the West Valley Humane Society and engage in activities related to supporting the organization and the animals in its care.

Volunteer understands that the scope of Volunteer’s relationship with West Valley Humane Society is limited to a volunteer position andthat no compensation is expected in exchange for services provided by Volunteer; that West Valley Humane Society will not provide anybenefits traditionally associated with employment to Volunteer, and that Volunteer is responsible for his/her own insurance coverage inthe event of personal injury or illness as a result of Volunteer’s services to West Valley Humane Society.
1. Waiver and Release: I, the Volunteer, Release and forever discharge and hold harmless West Valley Humane Society and itssuccessors and assigns from any and all liability, claims, and demands of whatever kind or nature, either in law or in equity,which arise or may hereafter arise from the services I provide to West Valley Humane Society. I understand and acknowledgethat this Release discharges West Valley Humane Society from any liability or claim that I may have against West ValleyHumane Society with respect to bodily injury, personal injury, illness, death, or property damage that may result from theservices I provide to West Valley Humane Society or occurring while I am providing volunteer services.
2. Insurance: Further, I understand that West Valley Humane Society does not assume any responsibility for or obligation toprovide me with financial assistance or other assistance, including but not limited to medical, health or disability benefits orinsurance of any nature in the event of my injury, illness, death or damage to my property. I expressly waive any such claim forcompensation for compensation or liability on the part of West Valley Humane Society.
3. Medical Treatment: I hereby Release and forever discharge West Valley Humane Society from any claim whatsoever whicharises or may hereafter arise on account of any first-aid treatment or other medical services rendered in connection with anemergency during my tenure as a volunteer with West Valley Humane Society.
4. Assumption of risk: I understand that the services I provide to West Valley Humane Society may include activities that may behazardous to me, including, but not limited to animal bites and scratches, infections arising from animal bites and scratches,exposure to cleaning and disinfecting solutions, involving inherently dangerous activities. As a volunteer, I hereby expresslyassume the risk of injury or harm from these activities and Release West Valley Humane Society from all liability for injury,illness, death or property damage resulting from the volunteer services I provide as a volunteer or occurring while I amproviding volunteer services.
5. I grant and convey to West Valley Humane Society all rights, title, and interests in any and all photographs, images, video, oraudio recordings of me or my likeness or voice made by West Valley Humane Society in connection with my providing servicesto West Valley Humane Society.
6. Volunteer expressly agrees that this Release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the State ofIdaho, and that this Release shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Idaho. Volunteeragrees that in the event that any provision or clause of this Release shall be held to be invalid by any court of competentjurisdiction, the invalidity of such clause or provision shall not otherwise affect the remaining provisions or clauses of thisRelease which shall continue to be enforceable.
